For Macquarie Staff
Who are we?
MQ Learning Skills offers a range of resources for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students and staff designed to enhance the academic skills that are necessary for succeeding in university studies. Learning Advisers also act as Academic Literacy Consultants. MQ Learning Skills does this by:
- teaching a variety of workshops on academic writing and communication to meet the academic literacy needs of students and staff
- offering both online and print resources for students
- developing with faculty staff a variety of short programs and one-off seminars to provide students with discipline-specific academic skills and strategies for learning (e.g. literature reviews, science report writing)
- collaborating with staff in faculties to integrate the development of students' academic language in a particular area of the faculty curriculum
- working with specially trained Learning Skills mentors through the Mentors@Macquarie program to facilitate student-led sessions that introduce students to some learning strategies and help them access resources
