About Dunmore Lang College
Located on campus and less than five minutes' walk from the heart of Macquarie University, Dunmore Lang College offers a vibrant, welcoming and safe community. The College provides excellent academic and personal support for undergraduate and postgraduate students and has one of the highest residential staff to student ratios in Australia.
More than just a place to stay, Dunmore Lang College is a community: a home away from home providing opportunities for students to become involved in College and university life and the chance to make life-long friendships with people from all over Australia and the world.
The College actively promotes an active social and sporting programme facilitated by the student association (ADS). The ADS ensures a wide variety of activities and events throughout the year that gives everyone the chance to become involved. Opportunities include music, sports, drama, debating and community volunteering to name a few.
The College offers a range of different room types including ensuite. All rooms are fully furnished, including washbasins, and some have private balconies. All standard rooms and the common room were refurbished this year, creating funky, vibrant spaces that have proved hugely popular.
Dunmore Lang College is fully catered offering three meals a day, late meals, packed lunches and takeaway options. Suppers are available at exam time and there are flexible catering options for postgraduate residents.
The College offers a broad range of scholarships and bursaries through partnerships with Macquarie University and the support of generous donors. The total of the scholarship support for 2014 was over half a million dollars. Applications for scholarships 2015 are available online and close Friday 14 November.
Academic support is available through tutors, study groups and peer support. This support has contributed to the academic results of residents being significantly higher than the average across the University, with 57% of Dunmore Lang College residents attaining a credit or higher compared to the University average of 50%. Academic Dinners with a range of speakers, senior academics, professionals and alumni take place at the College regularly.
All members of the College are provided with free gym and pool membership at the Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre. The College also provides free unlimited internet, room cleaning and linen change. Facilities include a fully equipped Common Room with pool table, table tennis, Foxtel, projector and PlayStation, and there is a library, chiropractic teaching room, computer lab with IT support and music facilities including a grand piano. Flexible contracts match the University calendar meaning students do not have to pay for extra weeks.
