Building your future

There are a lot of works going on around Campus. Each one of these projects is being undertaken by the University in order to build a better future for its students and community - better teaching, learning and research facilities, better partnerships with other organisations and businesses, better opportunities for your education and career. Here are updates on the progress of a few of the bigger Property projects on Campus. Australian Hearing Hub

The Australian Hearing Hub will be a unique, world-class facility purpose-designed to facilitate collaborative research into hearing and related speech and language disorders. The project commenced in 2010 and is expected to be completed late 2012 More Details

  • MAY 2012

    Having now completed the Hearing Hub's concrete structure, the Builder is focused on completing the installation of the glass façade panels, which will waterproof the interior of the building. 

    Installation of high level services, including electrical, mechanical and fire alarm systems, is continuing progressively throughout the building, as is the installation of tenancy fit-out partitioning, and the construction of two audiometric test booth prototypes. 

    The Builder is currently installing precast and polished concrete panels at the western point of the building, and is erecting the structural steelwork support for the decorative precast blade which shall be a distinctive feature of the building.

    Completion of the building is targeted for late 2012.

 

 

Macquarie Theatre Refurbishment

Macquarie Theatre will be undergoing significant refurbishment from late 2011, which will take the venue from a 1970's traditional theatre into a more modern, sustainable teaching and learning facility allowing large group teaching alongside small group active learning space. The project commenced in 2011 and is anticipated to be finished in late 2012. More details

  • MAY 2012

    Roofing works to the main theatre have been completed, and the construction of the lift shaft has also been completed. The structure for the new eastern foyer is underway, and work on the ground floor toilet amenities is well progressed. Installation of partitions and linings to Level 1 and the main theatre has commenced. 

    Clear identification of the work site can be seen on this map, and alternative access routes are also highlighted.  

 

 

Lotus Theatre (W6D)

Lotus Theatre is a 500 seat teaching theatre, developed as a temporary space for use while the Macquarie Theatre Refurbishment is underway. Following the completion of the Macquarie Theatre project, Lotus Theatre will continue to be used as a teaching and learning venue for its lifespan. More Details

  • MARCH 2012

Final completion on the Lotus Theatre has been reached. The first lectures in the Theatre commenced in January 2012, and the first entertainment uses of the venue are in March 2012.
